Our Wedding

As I told you in the previous post, we are celebrating our anniversary this weekend. Our wedding day two years ago was a magical day. We got just a few drops of rain and then the sun started to shine. The place was more than amazing, food was to die for and after a glass of sparkling I was ready for the big day! My husband's family gave me a necklace that I will treasury forever, mainly because I felt it was so touching they wanted to give me something I've always dreamt of. Our loved ones gave us speeches, we laughed and cried and ate, drank and danced until midnight. My husband even had practised how to sing a Finnish song with our band! Here are some of the photos from our big day, hope you enjoy! <3

The next day we woke up to full sun shine and a great hotel brunch :) I will post later on about our anniversary celebration!

Mr & Mrs - About Marriage

We are celebrating our 2-year anniversary at the end of this month. It's then exactly three years since he proposed and two years since the happiest and most perfect day of my life so far, our Wedding day. My husband's proposal was simple and private, yet very meaningful and very beautiful. It happened at midnight on a warm summer night in Finland, in my childhood area, at sea shore. It was completely silent, you could just hear the wind in the willows, nothing else.

Our Wedding day took place on an island in Helsinki, in a beautiful old wooden restaurant with amazing surroundings. I still remember the once in a lifetime feeling of everyone I love being there on my special day. It's a feeling I can't describe. The food was absolutely perfect - the best Finnish food I've ever eaten, my friend sang us the most touching song ever and my husband's family gave us wonderful speaches and a very meaningful gift to me.

The second day after our wedding we read through all the wonderful cards and notes guests had written. It was such a dream.

Second anniversary is called "Paper Wedding". The first one is cotton, third leather and 60th diamond. This is for a reason - marriage gets stronger year by year. Paper is easily crumbled or even teared, diamonds last wear and tear. I couldn't agree more. Intercultural marriage is not an easy one. Throughout these two years we have gotten to know each other at our best - and at our very worst. I truly appreciate that I can be myself, 100% real, with my husband and he still loves me despite it all. I've always been honest with him, and he always wishes what's best for me. He has been there through fights, tears, days when I'm completely down or very sick. But he is there to share my laughter, my joy and my aspirations.

This is what I wish for everyone, to find someone not having to pretend with. Someone who accepts you for who you are as a person, not for external reasons and not only when you are nice or happy. Someone who cleans the toilet after you have vomited throughout the night when sick. That is unconditional love and it's worth waiting for.

My Favourite Perfumes

I'm at home having a flu and blogging is the best way to spend time, a cup of hot chocolate in my hands :)

Not sure if you agree but I think it's so difficult to find that perfect perfume. Subtle yet strong, feminine but not overly seductive. A perfume that I could wear both at work and at a romantic dinner. And something I wouldn't get bored of smelling every day.

I have two favourites right now. One of them has walked a long path with me, the Italian Laura. This is a smell my mum recognizes me of, something that smells like "me". It's also the smell I wore when I met my husband and that's why it's extra special for me. I was so happy when my sis-in-law went to Italy and brought some for me :) I smell like myself again!

My new favourite is Miss Dior. It's definitely from the more flirty and sexy end but it's not an "aunty smell" or shower-gel-sweet. It's just right and it lasts all day!

I would love to hear if you have a perfume you've been either wearing for years or a new one that you've just found!

Lately

After starting in a new job my days and weeks, even months, are flying pass. If I didn't have friends and family in Finland, I wouldn't even notice the passing of months - winter, spring and now summer. I really miss the four seasons and change of temperature, weather and mood. Somehow winter or rainy days in Finland give people a reason so be silent, shut their doors and just be all alone for a while. Singapore on the other hand is on the go constantly - business depends on pace, consuming, shopping, buying, going, coming, working, queueing. Non-stop. Sometimes I wish I was just sitting on a rock in Helsinki, looking at the sea, wind blowing my hair and listen to nothing.

Anyhow, I'm here and this weekend I had surprise guests from Finland - I'm always so happy to get visitors!! Today our good friends in Singapore celebrate their wedding. My husband is at their gate crashing at the moment which is a tradition of the husband going to the bride's parents house to "buy" the bride over to the husband's family. The bridesmaids prepare all kind of tricks for the best men and the groom to get pass and lots of money and gifts are passed on to the bride and her bridesmaids.

Lately I've been relaxing mostly at home and with friends, trying to cook new dishes - my new bravura is goat cheese&salmon pizza and chocolate cupcakes :)

Another weird thing lately is that all of a sudden Singapore is filled with moths. They are everywhere - at home, outside, at the mrt station, on my office door, in my office lobby...! I tried to save the first ones out of the window but there seem to be too many!

In terms of outfits I'm inlove with combinations of white lately <3

Well, this post was all over the place without any direction whatsoever but oh well, that's life! I hope you've had a great Saturday and lots of nice plans (or relaxing time at home) for today :)

River Safari - Part II

Sorry to those who are not animal lovers, this is the second and final post about my Zoo experience ;) But I really enjoyed it! A breeze of fresh air among all the city life here... Singapore Zoo has three different parts - Zoo, Night Safari and the new River Safari. I've been twice to Night Zafari and fully recommend it! It's a great experience to walk surrounded my animals on a warm cosy night of Singapore. Photos will be difficult to take because no flash is allowed to consider the animals' sensitive sight. River Safari presents the wildlife from the Amazon and other wet areas in the world. There are two ways of looking at Zoos - I always feel bad towards the caged animals, especially birds that can't fly and lonely animals... On the other hand without education about these sensitive species in the world, people would become even more ignorant to preserve the nature, recycle, give money to charity and so forth.

River Safari has both fishes and animals that live on the ground. As I told you before, Panda was the highlight of the Zoo :) It just took it easy, ate all it could find and munched bamboo lying on it's back. Just like me according to my husband ;)
